What Dreams May Come

I cannot believe we are wrapping up the second week of February! Last week we talked to the kids about dreams--what is a dream? How can one fulfill a dream? What are short-term and long-term goals one needs to walk out their dream?
For some of the kids we work with, it was the first time they had given thought to what they want to be when they grow up or even where they would like to travel. (They love learning about other countries!) So often, our kids, at the Quito Dream Center, think of the day-to-day tasks of living/surviving--how can they avoid their father who may be on another drinking binge, how they may be left at home (alone) again to take care of their younger siblings, wondering if they will be safe while they sleep at night and so much more. Fears and worries occupy their minds that the idea of dreaming of or planning for their future is almost non-existent.
For our high schoolers, we have started a portfolio to help them map out their dreams! Some wish to become doctors, other chefs, and some auto mechanics. No matter the dream, we want to help them explore what their particular goal has to offer and help them make that dream a reality. For some, this may be visiting a hospital to talk to a doctor firsthand. For others, it may be visiting a high-end restaurant to see the behind-the-scenes of what it takes to be a chef or researching where they can study abroad. Whatever the dream, whatever the task, we are behind these kids 100 percent. As I said, January 2020 marked a year of new beginnings, and this one we are super excited about!

Praises, Blessings & Updates:
Next Friday, I will be 36--eek! I am excited to spend my birthday weekend exploring Baños de Agua Santa, a place known for its hot springs.
Luz is now at home with her family. Please continue to pray for her and her family. Her siblings continue to miss school and our program as they are helping take care of her.
If you are on Facebook and haven't joined my "Go Therefore" group, please consider joining for mid-week updates, photos, prayer requests, and more!
Would you consider sponsoring one of our 45 kids in need and help them dream big? To find out more, click here: Quito Dream Center Scholarships.
Things to Pray For:
We had three new kids start at the Dream Center this week. Pray for their transition. It's not always easy to join mid-year.
Continue to pray that the teachers and I stay healthy! But, unfortunately, there is a nasty virus going around, and no, it's not the Coronavirus.
Pray for the kids who are a part of our program! They have quarterly exams next week. Also, pray for their hearts and minds for their safety and protection.
We have officially outgrown our space at the Dream Center! We have been tight on space for a while, but we are now bursting at the seams. We cannot add on to the house we currently use. Please pray for another building to open up or for us to find land to build! Either way, this requires funds! Pray for funding to come in and for the Father to lead us to the perfect location.
