In about two hours, I will be boarding my plane for the Dominican Republic. I think I am still pinching myself because I do not believe that this moment has finally arrived. Still, in my spirit, I feel ready to GO…Ready to walk into the unknown, to step into a new season, to be challenged as I build up the Learning Center (LC) program, but for the ideas and creativity to flow as I take on this project. Ready to pour into girls--to let them know their value & worth in the eyes of our Heavenly Father. Ready. I understand that this will not be easy--it will have its good days and bad, but it will be worth it in the end. Even though there will be moments of homesickness and tears, I am ready because I know that this is what I’m supposed to do--to risk it all on Him--and I know that my Abba Father will carry me through it all…

Things to PRAY for:

  • Please keep me in your prayers over the next several weeks as I get settled in and adjusted. I tend to adapt to different situations relatively quickly, but I also know I will have a lot on my plate! So pray that I will find a small group/Bible study to get connected to.

  • Pray for me as I build up the LC program. I have a lot of curriculum to pour over, and we already have some excellent English and math tutorial programs in place. ( I will share more with you later.) Continue to hold up my directors and other staff in your prayers.

  • And please, pray for the girls! There will be challenges with every one of them but pray for their hearts, for them to be able to find peace and comfort in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

PRAISES & BLESSINGS:

  • Over the past several weeks, blessing after blessing has been pouring in. These blessings continue to remind me that I serve a faithful God who cares for His children and knows what we need and when we need it. These are just a few:

  • Within 10 minutes of putting my car on Craigslist, I sold it at my asking price.

  • My Liberty Church family and friends from the Solano area donated “classroom supplies” for the Learning Center. Not only is this a blessing for our staff and me but for the girls that we will be working with!

  • In my previous post, I mentioned that one of my fellow staff members was looking for an apartment for the two of us. Finally, she found one within our budget, in a great and safe location—walking distance to the store, our work, and even the beach. In addition, it comes fully furnished down to the cups, which is a blessing because furniture is an American price.

  • I am beyond grateful for the love, support, and encouragement I have received from my family and friends. There are no words, and it brings tears to my eyes when I think about all that has taken place and what people have done and continue to do for me.
