Heart's Cry

I believe that everyone has a cry in his or her heart. Some cry out for love or mercy. Others cry out for the lost and for those who are fighting addictions. My heart’s cry is for justice. It runs deep in my soul. Amos 5:24 (MSG) is my declaration verse: “Do you know what I want? I want justice--oceans of it. I want fairness--rivers of it. That’s what I want. That’s all I want.” The New Living Translation describes justice as a “mighty flood.” Can you imagine what a flood of justice would look like? How would it wash over the earth?

This cry was planted in my heart when I was a little girl, and over time it started to grow. However, the day it became truly active, where it moved me to my core, was a little over three years ago when I lived in the Philippines. Since that day, something became alive inside me…a cry for justice was born, and I knew I could not keep silent.

Every country whose soil I touch, I see children--little boys and girls and even adolescents. I hear their stories, and I see their struggles. Their faces are etched in my mind, even when I return to the States. I see the child begging on the streets and the girl behind the closed door. I feel their hand in mine, and I can still hear their laugh. They cry out to be wanted, to be noticed and, to be loved.

They are the reason why I desire to reach out to the brokenhearted, to show them the Father’s love, and to be a voice for them in their time of need. They are the reason why my heart cries out for justice because every child deserves to have hope and to know love in its purest form.

My question to you is, “what’s the cry of your heart?”

Do you have one?

Does it keep you up at night?

Does it move you to your core?

If not, pray. Ask the Father to give you one.

I guarantee you; you will be changed.

Praises and Updates:

  • For those of you who don't already know, I arrived in Georgia last week! I thoroughly enjoyed visiting family and friends on my way out.

  • One of the boys at the Manila Children's Home has been adopted!

  • Costco Wholesale donated a CashCard to purchase Vitamin C for our After-school program in Quito. This is a huge blessing as Vitamin C is expensive to buy in Ecuador, and we go through a bottle a week.

  • We are still raising funds for our rainwater harvesting project in Kenya.

  • We are now starting to put our heads together for a Nutrition Campaign, which will impact all of our programs and partner projects. Stay tuned for updates!

Prayer requests:

  • Please pray as I start to apartment hunt next week!

  • Many of our partner projects have teams visiting, and some are running camps. Keep them in your prayers as they minister to the kids and have busy days.
